Realistic STA-78 Complete Rebuild Kit High-Quality Receiver Recap Transistors
Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the Realistic STA-78. This includes all the parts you need to replace all electrolytic capacitors in the STA-78, as well as replacements for most of the transistors (other than on the tuner board). This does not include output transistors, lights, or fuses. The original output transistors are two 2SB509 and two 2SD315. Those are no longer being made, and any available on eBay are most likely counterfeit and may damage your receiver. These outputs can be replaced with TIP42C and TIP41C, which are a different design but will work fine. This kit includes the following: Power Supply: 8 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC) Amp Board: 8 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, Wima film)14 transistors Phono Board: 9 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, Wima film) Tone & Muting Boards: 15 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Wima film)6 transistors Tuner Board: 26 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, Wima film) 2 Main Capacitors: 6800 uf 80v Nichicon LS (same diameter as the old caps) Instructions These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same parts I use when I rebuild vintage equipment. The transistors are the correct subs for the originals, and the capacitors are the same capacitance (uf) and the same or higher voltage. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but rebuilding a receiver is moderately complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester with 60W or 100W incandescent bulb. This kit may not fix your Realistic, but it's pretty likely that it will, and it will definitely help it run better. If you have a background crackle or hum, this will probably take care of it.
