Pioneer SX-950 Preamp Boards Rebuild Kit AWG-038 & AWG-039 Recap & Repair Kit
Up for sale here is this preamplifier boards rebuild set for a Pioneer SX-950. This is all the parts you need to rebuild the three preamp boards in the Pioneer SX-950--the AWG-038 flat amp board, the AWG-039 tone amp board, and the AWS-094 switch assembly board (only one cap on that board). Over time the preamp boards start developing issues with transistors and capacitors. The old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes all 28 capacitors and all 6 transistors. It does NOT include replacements for the 2SK30 FETs, which don't need to be replaced unless they're malfunctioning. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, and Wima film caps at the correct uf and the same or higher voltage ratings, and the transistors are new Fairchild/Onsemi and are the correct subs for the original transistors/diodes. These are extremely high-quality parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild Pioneer gear. Frankly, "recapping" is a waste of time if you're not going to replace the transistors as well. A lot of times the transistors age worse than the caps, so you should definitely change out the transistors while you're in there. Most flat amp boards use 4.7 uf capacitors for the C5, C6, C23, and C24 capacitors, but some use 2.2 uf capacitors instead. This kit includes four Nichicon KL 2.2 uf caps and four Nichicon KL 4.7 uf caps, so you can rebuild either one. I will include a surprisingly well-written instruction sheet, but this is a pretty complicated repair, so if you don't have much experience with this, buy the kit and take it to a professional. You should definitely have a fair amount of soldering experience and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester, as well as the usual tools. Please see my pictures for details.
