Marantz 2385 Rebuild Kit High-Quality Receiver Recap Caps Transistors Relay
Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the Marantz 2385. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild the Marantz 2385 power supply board, amplifier board, P400 phono EQ board, PE00 tone board, PS00 board, PT00 board, PN00 board, PQ00 board, PC00 board, PB00 board, and the three tuner boards. It does NOT include replacements for the two dual-section main filter capacitors--I am working on replacements for those, but right now I do not have a replacement. If you search eBay for Marantz 2385 capacitor board you will find a ready-made solution from another seller. This also does not include new lights, fuses, or output transistors. The correct replacement output transistors are six MJ21195G (replaces 2SA909) and six MJ21196G (replaces 2SC1585/1586), available here. Please do not buy any of the Chinese output transistors listed on eBay--these are counterfeit and will damage your receiver. The 2385 is a bit challenging to work on. Accessing the boards can be difficult, so if you have not worked on vintage gear before, this is NOT one to start with. The capacitors are 105° Panasonic FC, Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Wima film, and two axial Supertech caps at the same uf ratings and the same or higher voltage ratings, the transistors and diodes are the correct Fairchild/Onsemi and Toshiba subs for the original transistors, and the relay is a new Omron relay. These are extremely high-quality parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild Marantz equipment. The kit includes a replacement for the speaker protection relay but not for the soft-start relay. It includes replacements for the 2SC1775s at Q701-706 on the amp board, but no other amp board transistors. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is fairly complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with a 100W or 150W incandescent bulb.
