Vintage Custom AKAI GX 646 EE reel to reel recorder.
Up for sale,Vintage Custom AKAI GX 646 reel to reel recorder in excellent condition . It has custom crafted hand rubbed figured maple side panels and polished custom polished headcover. This is a one of a kind machine. This is one of AKAIs top of the line recorders , same transport as the 747 including EE capability, without all tensioning arm belt issues as with the 747. It is part of my present system, and used sparingly for playback . play ff rew, auto reverse , all functions seem to work well . I have not recorded with it. That being said, although a functioning unit, it hasnt been serviced in a while, it would benefit from a service. It hasnt been performed for a few years, alignment, lube, etc. its 35+ years old, and vintage electronic parts can fail at anytime without warning, i hope you understand, therefore, Its Being sold as is, ( for Parts or Repair), project, no returns, refunds, partials. please dont purchase this if you dont have any knowledge about the functionality of vintage tube/ audio/electronics, or you know someone that does, that can service it. I do not accept returns! SEE PHOTOS, ASK Questions, as they are part of the description! I doubt you will find one nicer . Reels and hubs are for display and not included. This unit is heavy 55+ lbs. It will be packed securely for safe arrival. It will be insured, any damage due to shipper will be the responsibility of the buyer. I will help in any way i can, but i cant control the shipping company. Parts harvesters, or shipping claim pirates, need not apply! This is a hobby, i collect, certain ones, I do not work on, or service this stuff, i leave that up to the experts. I have too much equipment time to let some go!
