Sansui F-2436-1 Driver Board Rebuild Receiver Recap Kit for 8080 9090 890 990
Up for sale here is this Sansui F-2436-1 driver board rebuild set. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild an F-2436-1 driver board for a Sansui 8080, 9090, 890, or 990. This is not for the Sansui 881 or QRX-7001 driver board--that board is different, and that kit is available here. If you need a kit for the Sansui 8080DB/9090DB, that is different, and is available here. Over time the driver boards start developing issues with the fuse resistors, varistors, diodes, transistors, trimmers, and capacitors, and often the old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes enough parts to replace all the electrolytic capacitors, all the diodes (including the zener diodes), the two varistors, all the fuse resistors, the four trimmers, and all the transistors except the four big driver transistors (TR11-TR14) and two metal bias transistors (TR07/TR08). These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are all Nichicon PW, Nichicon Muse, and Wima film caps at the correct uf and the same or higher voltage ratings, the resistors are all new 1% precision resistors, the trimmers are new Bourns trimmers, the diodes are new 1N4148s, and the transistors are the correct Fairchild/Onsemi subs for the original transistors. These are not cheap Made in China parts, they are extremely high-quality and they are what I use when I rebuild Sansui gear. Doing a partial rebuild of the driver board is a waste of time--you need to replace the fuse resistors, small transistors, AND capacitors, and it's worth doing the diodes and varistors as well, which is why this kit covers all that. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is a fairly complicated and delicate rebuild, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester with 100W incandescent bulb. The instructions will also explain the 8080/9090 service bulletin and the "light mod" that keeps the tuning dial lit no matter which source is selected. Please see my pictures for details.
